Soccer Player Thamba Mbungu’s Suspicious Death at a Young Age

Unexpectedly, soccer player Thamba Mbungu’s death news was confirmed after an active police investigation of a suspicious death at Derryfield Park (450 Bridge Street) had been started.

It is reported that a body of a young adult male was found in Derryfield Park. At 7:38 a.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, a call came in for an unresponsive person. The report listed the person as “not breathing at all.”

The young man was identified as Thamba Mbungu, a New England Revolution player whose cause of death has not been confirmed yet. It is not clear what happened to him and what led him to death. US day News doesn’t confirm or refuse this reason for his death, but we are waiting for more official information, so stay with us.

He was not transported by ALS but remained to wait for the medical examiners. The playgrounds, baseball and football fields, and parking lot are all yellow taped off.

The investigators have made a positive ID and are investigating. Family and friends have been at the scene. This morning’s softball games were scheduled on the rear field that the police told them they had to cancel shortly before 8 a.m. There was a family on the scene behind the police line.

Reactions to Thamba Mbungu’s Death

Several friends and supporters reacted and stated their condolences on social media websites following this tragic news.

Marcelo Santos wrote on Twitter: “I found out earlier today that one of my former players, Thamba Mbungu, passed away last night. Thamba was a true competitor, a great person, humble and caring. I’m still in shock and disbelief. RIP my friend Thamba Mbungu gone too soon @NERevsAcademy.”

One of his friends at Manchester Central High School wrote: “I woke up today to a call hearing that you are now gone, my brother. I don’t know how to explain this, but my heart is broken. losing you my brother Thamba D Mbungu bro you are forever gonna stay in my heart Thambinho! bro with you on the field I knew I’m gonna win so sad losing you my brother, May Your Soul Rest Easy, my brother.”

Another old friend commented: “This is so sad I went to high school with him. He was such a sweet person that everyone loved prayers out to his family. Lost such a pure soul way too soon.”

One wrote: “A very sad day for our community. I can’t believe Thamba D Mbungu is no longer with us. Your whole life ahead of you my brother. I’m glad I got to know you. Coaching you at INTI, watching you killing it at central, New England Revs, and everything else you were involved in. You left so soon. Prayers to your family. If you know Mbambi and his brothers please check on them. May you Rest In Peace.”

    I am beyond Devastated by the passing of my dear friend Thamba. He was a such a good spirit and he a lovely person. I remember we went to ohio with him in the indoor tournament and we had so much fun. his dream was to become a professional soccer player and he was a very talented soccer player. I don’t know what else can I say but love you bro fly high my friend.

    this is so sad a young talanted player killed in nh manchester used to be one of the most safes place to live no people think its good to just start killing each other this need to STOP!! people are dying and people think its funny. its not funny he was only 20 years old and he turned 20 last month you guys think your hard and buy a gun and shoot an innocent young man this needs to stop because you guys are saying BLM but you guys are killing each other 2 so dont say BLM if you guys are just gonna keep killing each other RIP THAMBA MAN WATCH OVER ME

    Yet another suspicious death of a young black man in America. With no disrespect white child goes missing daily around the clock news. Meanwhile young black male found dead in the city, doesn’t even make the local paper there is something wrong in this country

    Anonymous: First, so sorry for your loss. I am a white man (straight, non-religious) who didn’t even know Thamba Mbungu, but was moved by his tragic loss. I think there are very few people who wouldn’t agree. I know you are angry…and I understand. However, your comment was the type of comment that divides us all. Your comment would have been best directed at the individual who took Thamba’s life and the local paper who made the decision not to print it! In honor of his life, from this day forward, try to remember that most of us, regardless of race are good people and only accuse the individual transgressor. Lumping us all in to one group is racism!
