Born on May 1, 1956, Mr. Sale is known to be an amazing and talented American Eisner Award-winning comics artist, who attracted lots of attention to his works for his collaborations with writer Jeph Loeb.
Before moving to New York City, he went to the University of Washington for two years. After that, he attended the School of Visual Arts, as well as the comics workshop run by artist John Buscema.
After a while, he planned to return to Seattle before graduating from SVA. To name a few of his selected works:
- Billi 99 (with Sarah Byam)
- Grendel (with Matt Wagner)
- Deathblow (with Jim Lee and Brandon Choi)
- Superman Confidential [aka “Superman: Kryptonite”] (with Darwyn Cooke)
- Tim Sale: Black And White hardcover retrospective of Tim Sale. By Richard Starkings and John “JG” Roshell with Tim Sale.
As many believe, the modern superhero wouldn’t be what it was without the work of artist Tim Sale. His moody, energetic work on characters such as Batman, Hulk, Spider-Man, Superman, and basically many heroic comics, helped define modern myths and understandings about the character.
