The musician, an unforgettable member of the R&B group Switch, had reportedly been in hospital since a few weeks before his passing day.

Tommy DeBarge of Switch passes away at age 64 following years of grappling with liver and kidney failure.

Good to know, Switch was created in 1976 by Gregory Williams and included Phillip Ingram, Eddie Fluellen, and Jody Sims. They were signed to a subsidiary of the iconic Motown label not long after forming.

Their self-titled debut album, released in 1978, included “There’ll Never Be,” which hit number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was their only top 40 hit.

The band didn’t stop with the DeBarge brothers’ departure but instead allowed new members to join; the band resumed to make music. Another member, Bobby, lost his life due to AIDS-related complications in 1995 at 39.
