Zydeco Musician Chris Ardoin Shot to Death on Stage
Zydeco artist Chris Ardoin was shot to death while performing a concert Friday night in Grant Parish, Louisiana, his wife said in a statement on Facebook.
According to his wife Kerri, Chris Ardoin was shot in the back while performing with Musician Nustep Zydeko at the Louisiana Mudfest.
“Hello everyone, this is Kerri, Chris’ wife. Yes, unfortunately, tonight, he did get shot in the back on his right side while on stage. Doctors said thankfully he’s a built guy. The bullet didn’t penetrate his lung and stopped near his ribs,” Ardoin’s wife said in a statement on a Facebook page at 3:36 a.m. Saturday.
She also said that the rapper has been hospitalized and asked for prayers for his recovery. “We are currently in the hospital. Please keep him in your prayers, and will update you all later!!! Thanks.”
The Louisiana Zydeco musician was performing as the Friday headliner at Zydeco Bike Fest when he was suddenly shot in the back.
The incident occurred in Colfax, Louisiana, at Louisiana Mudfest, an ATV and mudding park where a weekend festival was being held. Chris was slated as the Friday headliner, but Lil Nate and The Zydeco Big Timers scheduled their performance for Saturday night. Lil Nate announced on Facebook Saturday morning that his group was canceling their performance.

Chris Ardoin Shot to Death; Health Update
Chris Ardoin was shot to death during a concert in Colfax, Louisiana. Fortunately, he is currently in stable condition and is recovering in the hospital, according to his wife.
Ardoin’s wife, Kerri, shared some details surrounding Ardoin’s condition and said that the bullet did not penetrate Chris’ lung and stopped near his ribs.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office revealed in a statement that they responded to the park overnight after hearing that multiple people shot into a crowd. Police reported that two people were struck by the gunfire and suffered injuries, including a 14-year-old child.
“The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to Louisiana Mud Fest overnight, to multiple people shooting into a crowd. Two people were shot and have moderate injuries. One of the victims is a 14-year-old child,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
The law enforcement agency said that the gunfire caused a panic among the crowd of people. “There were thousands of people at the event, and many of them immediately began trying to leave. There were hundreds of vehicles trying to leave at once.”
Deputies caught two armed men as they tried to run away by jumping on the running boards of a moving vehicle, but it was not clear if they were the shooters. “when we received a 911 call that there were two people with guns that jumped onto the running boards of a vehicle that was trying to leave. Deputies were able to arrest those two, and they are in jail.”
After the sad news was revealed, many fans and friends wished him a speedy recovery and sent their well-wishes for Ardoin through social media, especially Twitter.
Guitarist Jeston Andrews shared a video of Friday night’s performance and wrote: “Pray for my Boss Chris Ardoin. We Need All Prayers.”
“Sending out best wishes to zydeco musician @ChrisArdoin for a speedy and full recovery – an innocent victim of a shooting, just playing music when it happened,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
