At this time, DJ Erick Morillo’s death cause was released after his dead body was found at his home in Miami Beach, Florida, on Tuesday morning, according to the police.

The American-Colombian musician, best known for producing electro-dance track I Like To Movie It, which he released in 1993 under the pseudonym Reel 2 Real, passed away at the age of 49.

Wow, we just found out that Morillo announced in an interview in 2016 he had to go to rehab three times for ketamine addiction, however, police are investigating possibility of suffering a drug overdose.

His addiction level to ketamine was so bad that he could lost his arm from injecting it into himself.

“At one point, I couldn’t even urinate,” he explained in the interview. “Every time I tried, it would be stuck and the pain meant I had to go to hospital where they put me to sleep.”

“When I woke up, they had slashed some of my arm off because it was so infected from putting ketamine in it,” Morillo added.

As Erick Morillo reports, his substance abuse started when he “wasn’t the top dog anymore.”

Morillo said: “My ego couldn’t take that I wasn’t the top dog anymore.That’s when things started to unravel.”

He became a bad guy in 2008; his drug problems started about ten years ago.

Those years, he missed a gig in Scotland after he was arrested on cocaine smuggling allegations.

Although the details surrounding Erick Morillo’s death are not yet known, officers state they responded to a 911 call at 10.42 am, with detectives immediately heading to the scene at his home on La Gorce Drive.

He said: ‘We received a 911 call this morning at 10:42 a.m… Detectives are currently on scene and in the preliminary stages of the investigation.’

Is Erick Morillo’s death cause related to his arrestment?

News of the DJ Erick Morillo’s death came almost a month after being arrested in Miami in charge of sexual battery.

According to an arrest report, the Plaintiff, who is also a female DJ, stated she had worked at a private party with Morillo at home on Star Island and went to Morillo’s house after the party.

The report added the victim claims that DJ Morillo “made several advances towards her, some sexual in nature, but she refused all of his attempts.”

She also claimed the possible victim recalled being intoxicated and sought out a room to sleep in alone in the DJ’s home.

Above all, DJ Morillo denied all accusations against him and had turned himself. He had been freed on a $US25,000 bond and planned to appear before the court on Friday.

Morillo’s fans and dance music figures reacted to the death of the DJ.

Tributes messages have started for the musician, when Jersey Shore star DJ Pauly D tweeted: ‘Sad News 🙁 A True Legend. Erick Morillo RIP.’

Also Musician Yousef reacted: ‘Can’t believe it. Only spoke to him last week …. he was troubled, less than perfect but was always amazing to me and helped us get circus going in the early days, and we had many amazing times over the 20 years we we’re friends. Genuinely gutted. RIP @ErickMorillo.’

Who was Erick Morillo?

Morillo was born on March 26, 1971, in New York but whose family was from Colombia. He spent part of his childhood in Colombia before coming back to the US, where he began his career. He was a famous DJ, music producer, and also record label owner.

He’s a 3-time winner of the DJ Awards’ Best House DJ and a 3-time winner of Best International DJ, including his newest win in 2009.

Till now, there are any apparent signs of foul play, and Morillo’s death cause will be discovered by the Miami Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.
