After almost 40 years together ‘Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon separated and shared the news on April 29, 2022.
The Saturday Night Live alum previously talked about his lasting connection with Donna in an interview with the Tampa Bay Times.
“You gotta find the right person — look them in the eye, have them look back, and know their soul. She’s a Southern woman who is understanding and doesn’t mind dealing with the boys from time to time. I call her the White Goddess. And I’m the Green Demon,” Aykroyd said in 2014.
Aykroyd was previously engaged to the late actress and writer Carrie Fisher in the early 1980s. They married after the pair met backstage at NBC variety series and later shared the screen in the 1980 musical comedy.
Following their 1980 split, the Star Wars star — who passed away in December 2016 of a heart attack — reconnected with Simon, 80. After their separation, Fisher dated Bryan Lourd, with whom she shared one daughter, Billie Lourd.
Dan rose to fame as a writer and actor on Saturday Night Live before he went on to appear in the likes of Trading Places, Driving Miss Daisy, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Crossroads.
“The moment I entered the acting trade I was in ‘show business. I had to market and broker deals for myself. Every audition is a sale, then you have to follow it up with a contract, union obligations, tax planning, as well as — if you have a good job as an actor — investment,” Dan said in January 2020.
