While many fans want to know Jamie Lee Curtis’ transgender child’s new name, the legendary actress revealed her daughter’s new name to the world.
In the magazine interview, published on Wednesday, July 28, Jamie Lee Curtis told AARP The Magazine that she and her husband Christopher Guest “have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby.”
During the interview, the proud mom said that her 25-year-old child has transitioned from male to female. She also opened up about the transition process.
“She and her fiancé will get married next year at a wedding that I will officiate,” Jamie told AARP The Magazine in an interview published Thursday.
Ruby, who was previously named Thomas, is a computer gaming editor, and her 34-year-old sister, Annie is a dance instructor, The 62-year-old actress revealed.
Although Jamie doesn’t currently have any grandchildren between her two children, she said that she and Guest “do hope to” have them sometime soon.
Ruby and Annie were adopted by Curtis and Guest as infants. The Hollywood who tied the knot in 1984 will celebrate 37 years of marriage this December.
The Knives Out star also spoke up about her family life and how, after four decades in Hollywood, she still feels most at home wherever her husband, Guest, is.
“I feel safe when I drive up and see that [he is] home. That’s the long marriage. It’s the safety of knowing his car is in the garage, that I’m not alone,” she said. Jamie also referred to herself as a “deep, serious romantic,” who wrote Christopher, 73, a song for their 35th anniversary.

Curtis didn’t reveal whether Ruby is marrying a man or woman, though, in 2019, Ruby posted a photo with a girlfriend.
Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest, who tied the knot in 1984, previously marked their long-lasting relationship last year when Jamie shared a tribute to her spouse via Instagram.
“One of the longest relationships I’ve had seeking comfort and contact and connection is with Chris. Today marks the 36th anniversary of our wedding. My hand in his,” Jamie wrote in December 2020.
“Then and now. Connected through our children and family and friends, it became the links in our human emotional chain that have seen each of us through triumph and tragedy,” she added.
Jamie wrote in an essay for Oprah Winfrey’s magazine in 2004: “I looked at the man on the right, wearing a plaid shirt and a waggish smirk. I’d never seen him before, but I pointed at him. ‘I’m going to marry that man,’ I said to my friend.”
Curtis said that the next day she called Guest’s agent and gave him her number and told him to have Christopher call her if he was interested.”
The Hollywood actress said that Chris never called her, and she went on with her life. But accidentally, she saw Chris at Hugo’s restaurant in West Hollywood. “As I sat down at Hugo’s, I glanced up and found myself staring straight at Chris, three tables away.”
“He waved to me as if to say, ‘I’m the guy you called.’ I waved back: ‘I’m the woman who called you,'” Jamie said. “A few minutes later, he got up to leave. Standing 20 feet away, he shrugged his shoulders and put up his hand as if to say, ‘I’ll see ya.’ As he left, I looked down at my plate.”
“The next day, on June 28, the phone rang. On July 2, Chris and I had our first date at Chianti Ristorante on Melrose. And by August 8, when he left to tape a year of Saturday Night Live in New York City, we’d fallen in love,” Curtis recalled.
