1 Dead, Over 5 Injured in Bloomingdale Indian Lakes Shooting


There was a huge emergency response at a west suburban hotel early Saturday morning regarding Bloomingdale Indian Lakes shooting; however, police did not immediately provide details about the incident.

Many people were shot, and a man in his late 20s was killed at the Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Bloomingdale Public Safety, BPS, Director Frank Giammarese said.

Most of those wounded, four to six people, have since been transported to local hospitals, he said. According to the report, no police officers were shot, Giammarese also confirmed.

One or more suspects involved in this incident might have fled the area after the shooting, he said. Many people appeared to be at the resort together in some fashion prior to the incident, Giammarese said.

Andy Pesek, who was passing by the hotel in his car around 3 a.m., said, “As the night went on, the gear began getting more and more. The next thing you know is that they are in SWAT gear. some serious gear and they’re going in, and they’re yelling at me, ‘keep driving, keep driving!'”

No One in Custody in Bloomingdale Indian Lakes Shooting

One of the hotel employees said a SWAT team and fire officials were on the shooting scene at the hotel, located at 250 West Schick Road, as of about 4:30 a.m.

Bloomingdale police said just after 5 a.m. on their Facebook page that there was no known imminent threat to any members of the community; They asked residents to avoid the area.

Police initially responded to a call of gunfires and brought in more law enforcement officials after they located multiple victims, Giammarese said.

DuPage County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Justin Kitch announced the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation team was also called, as well.

Officials said no one was in custody in connection with this incident as of about 6:20 a.m. Neither Bloomingdale police nor fire officials immediately responded to requests for more information about what happened.

Three police officers have been injured throughout a standoff situation in the High Point shooting with a barricaded man on West English Road yesterday.

According to High Point Police, these three police officers have been shot during a standoff situation in High Point Friday morning, and the suspect is now barricaded in a home on West English.

It began around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday when officers on patrol in the scene heard gunfires in the 2900 block of West English Road. Police stated that a man on a porch went back into a home and barricaded himself.

According to Lt. Truitt with HPPD, a tactical team tried talking to the suspect to get him to come outside, and that is when the man started shooting at officers.
