A woman killed in shooting in Kansas City, as she saved a baby life.

According to the police, a woman pushing a baby in a stroller was fatally shot on Monday in the 2700 block of Van Brunt Boulevard in Kansas City.

Officers responded just before 11:30 a.m. to a 7-Eleven gas station where they found the woman unconscious on the ground in the parking lot. According to the Kansas City Police Department, She was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told reporters that the woman was killed while pushing a baby under the age of 1 in a stroller in the parking lot.

The child was not injured in the shooting but was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

How did the Shooting Happen in Kansas?

The woman was killed by gunfire that came from an unknown vehicle, police said. Investigators were searching the area for any monitoring cameras and witnesses to determine what led up to the shooting.

This shooting was the 110th homicide this year in Kansas City, according to data maintained by The Star that includes law enforcement shootings. By this time last year, there had been 79 killings.
