Police Identify Suspect of Louisiana Hospital Shooting
Shreveport police have named a suspect in a Louisiana hospital shooting that left one person injured at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – St. Mary Medical Center in the Highland neighborhood in Shreveport.
An active shooting situation is ongoing at a Louisiana hospital after a gunman opened fire and injured at least one victim.
Police are on the scene of Louisiana hospital shooting outside St Mary’s Medical Center in Shreveport where they said a gunman shot another person and is now somewhere inside the hospital.
Suspect of the Louisiana hospital shooting was named
Shreveport police are searching for 41-year-old Taniel Cole who they believes is the suspect . Officers do not know whether he is in the hospital at this time or not.
Officers got the call just after 5:30 a.m. to the hospital. That’s the former Christus Schumpert campus.
According to Shreveport Police Department’s Sgt. Angie Willhite, police are treating it as an active shooting situation.
Hostage negotiators and a SWAT team have been called in to the scene to search for the suspect.
Police say the one man who was shot is anticipated to be okay.
Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport shooting victim condition
The shooting victim has non-life-threatening injuries and he is anticipated to be okay., reported SPD Spokesperson Cpl. Angie Whilhite, according to reports.
Police were called to reports of a shooting incident at the hospital soon after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
As of 7 a.m. the situation is still ongoing and right now there are over 20 units on the scene, according to Caddo 911..
A local school that backs on to the hospital – Loyola College Prep school – additionally has been closed while authorities work to bring the scene under control.
