Katastro’s Lead Singer Andy Chaves’s Car Accident Rumor at 32
We are sad to inform you on May 12, 2022, the famous Singer Andy Chaves is no longer with us. Rumors about Andy Chaves’s Car Accident are increasing on social media. He passed away when he had only 32 years old. May he rest in peace.
To know a little about the band, Katastro was formed in 2007 by vocalist, Andy Chaves, Andrew Stravers as the drummer, and Tanner Riccio as the guitarist.
Bassist Ryan Weddle joined the band a little later than the others to complete the current lineup. The band gained notoriety by creatively blending elements of:
- hip hop
2007 EP is known to be Katastro’s first release, The Wonderful Daze, and was followed up by their 2008 release, The Facts. The band put out their first full-length album in 2009, Poking Holes in A Pattern, which was produced by Bob Hoag.
Two years later, Katastro released their 4th studio album called Gentle Predator. The band’s most recent studio EP was released in late 2014 named No Mud No Lotus, with a follow-up full-length album due out later next year.
Noted, at the Tempe Beach Park St. Patrick’s Day Festival, the band shared the stage with Rebelution, with more than 12,000 attendees. The band then spent the summer touring with Iration, The Green, Pepper, and Dirty Heads.

Following the car accident, it’s told that a car with three people inside on the Pacific Coast Highway hit a curb in the median and slammed into roadwork construction equipment.
It’s stated that no drugs or alcohol were found in the victims who caused the crash which also resulted in the injury of construction workers.
