U.S. Court Judge James Parker Passed Away at The Age of 85


On September 18, 2022, we were informed that U.S. court judge James Parker passed away at the age of 85. The cause of death is unrevealed to the public.

Born and raised in Houston, the judge owned a mechanical engineering degree from Rice University as well as a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

U.S. District Court Judge James A. Parker served in New Mexico for over three decades besides having a courtroom named after him.

For 25 years Mr. Parker worked for an Albuquerque law firm. Noted, Ronald Reagan, former President, nominated him in 1987 to serve as a U.S. District Court judge.

U.S. Court Judge James Parker passed away on September 16

He remained on the federal bench for 35 years one of the longest tenures of any federal judge in New Mexico.

In January, a courtroom on the 6th floor of the federal courthouse in downtown Albuquerque was renamed to honor Parker.

MR. Parker advocated for resolving disputes outside the courtroom as a federal judge, not to mention him serving on national boards and committees.

Carolyn Wolf known as the president of the State Bar of New Mexico described him as a “brilliant jurist” who was courteous to everyone who appeared before him.

The courtroom has been renamed the James A. Parker Historical Courtroom, in recognition of Judge Parker’s exemplary and tireless service to the Nation and specifically to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Judge James Parker Passed Away on Friday

Without mentioning the cause, it was announced that James Parker passed away, by the Republican Party of New Mexico: “The Republican Party of New Mexico is saddened by the news that Senior U.S. District Judge James A. Parker has passed away.”

It was added: “Judge Parker will be missed by all of his friends and by this state which is in dire need of more men and women of his character.”

At this moment, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico is on mourn for the loss of Senior United States District Judge James A. Parker.

It was shared that Mr. Parker passed away on September 16, 2022, after 35 distinguished years on the bench serving the District of New Mexico.

Another wrote: “Judge James A. Parker was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the United States District Court on July 10, 1987, and received his commission on November 6, 1987. With 35 honorable years of service, he was one of the longest-serving district judges for the District of NM.”
