Kenny Lee’s Car Accident Shocked Everyone
Kenny Lee’s car accident shocked many people. The crash occurred Friday morning in West Wendover and led to the CEO of Lee’s Discount Liquor’s Death.
The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. on U.S. 93 between Ely and West Wendover. West Wendover is an eastern Nevada town near the Utah border and where his company has one of its 23 retail stores.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor at this time, Nevada Highway Patrol public information officer Ashlee Wellman said.
Kenny was driving south in a white van transporting alcohol when the van passed the center line, causing a partial head-on collision with a truck heading north, Wellman said.
The white truck tried to swerve out of the way, but Kenny — who was not wearing his seat belt — was ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunatly, Lee was pronounced dead at the scene, Wellman added.
The truck’s driver, who was not yet identified, sustained minor injuries.
Kenny Lee’s death comes just months after the passing of his father and Lee’s founder, Hae Un Lee, known around town as “Mr. Lee.” The founder died from cancer at 79.
Kenny, who featured prominently in advertisement billboards with his father, became the company’s president in 1993.
After his father passed away, Kenny became the owner of the company, which has 23 stores, making it the largest liquor chain in Las Vegas.
About 20 years ago, Hae Un Lee founded the Lee’s Helping Hand nonprofit that has donated “millions of dollars” to many charities in Nevada that focus on education, adoption and disabilities, and immigration services.
The company described Kenny as a loving son, father, and husband and noted that he also loved golfing and the Vegas Golden Knights.
