“I lost by a greater margin, and the margin was in the ward where the Notre Dame convent was,” she said in 2019. “They had been with me the first time, and they had left me the second time because it was almost the exact number of votes. I decided they must have thought I should stay home with the baby.”

In 2019, Farrow said: “I didn’t do any of that to be the first woman to do it. I hoped what I was bringing to that office would justify me being there whether I was a woman or a man.”

Bryan Steil paid tribute to Farrow on Twitter, writing, “Wisconsin has lost an outstanding leader today. Margaret Farrow was a force for good in our state for decades. She inspired many with her commitment to doing the right thing, and doing it the right way. She will be deeply missed.”

“Margaret Farrow was a public servant in every sense of the word…She was a mentor and a friend. We will miss her dearly. Tonette and I send our love and prayers to John and their family,” Scott Walker wrote on Twitter.

Rebecca Kleefisch said: “Lt. Gov. Margaret Farrow was a mentor and friend. She was an inspiration to me and thousands of Wisconsinites. Lt. Gov. Farrow was proof that strong women build remarkable legacies, are the architects of excellent policy, and leave lasting marks on history. I will miss her dearly.”

“Margaret Farrow will always be one of my favorite people I’ve met through politics. She was smart, kind, caring and classy. Above all, she was a problem solver. #RIP,” Bill McCoshen wrote.
