The group on Sunday confined and shared the heartbreaking passing news of Such who was the New Jersey band’s famous bassist from 1983 for about a decade. Bon Jovi credited Such for bringing the band together, noting that he was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres and brought guitarist and songwriter Richie Sambora to see the band perform. Such had played with Sambora in a band called Message.
The Yonkers, New York-born Such was a veteran figure in the thriving New Jersey music scene that helped spawn Bon Jovi. As manager of the Hunka Bunka Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, Such booked Jon Bon Jovi & The Wild Ones before entering the singer-songwriter’s band. He starred with Bon Jovi through the group’s heyday in the 1980s.

His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement, stating that the artist took his last breath on Sunday at his home on Newfoundland’s Salmonier River.
“Lauded from an early age as one of Canada’s finest painters and printmakers, he was faithful to his art all of his life,” the statement added. “Until the day he could no longer get there under his own steam, he headed to his studio every morning without fail. He taught us how to look, and how to see. We will miss him every day.”
